Sunday School Can Be Cool
Learn Serve and Share
On September 9th, our 2018-2019 Sunday School program began. We are excited to share with New Families, Faithful Friends and all our neighbors the many new and meaningful ways to share God’s Love.
In Christian Education we already completed our Stuff the Bus Mission to benefit Bethany Children’s Home. This project has quickly become an annual mission providing school supplies and prayer to support the school year.
Throughout September and the fall months ahead, our youth began to focus on the many wonderful scriptures centered on the importance of prayer and Listening for God. While committed to Learning, our Christian Education Committee has united to Serve this fall through the many missions concerning Hunger. On September 30th, our youth, families and entire congregation participated in our annual Harvest Home worship service. Harvest Home is a meaningful worship service to celebrate all of God’s gifts. Friends and Visitors provided many non-perishable food items. This year we prayerfully are working to support the Greater Reading Food Bank and Opportunity House.
At Good Shepherd UCC we believe there are many ways to learn, grow and share God’s Love. Through fun video, hands on crafts, song, games and mission moments. This year a few of our children have already enjoyed learning new songs and sharing them in sign language and coming soon will also learn them in other languages.
Our Teachers … I am so grateful to all of you! From those who have taught for many years, to those who just began…you ARE the foundation of our Christian Ed program. Thank you for all of your love, your talents and dedication. I look forward to working with you and am happy to announce the 9 new volunteers of our committee. Mark and Courtney Shober, Tim and Dawn Antosy, Shannon Gilbert, Alex and Andy Greb and Ron and Judy Volanski. How Exciting! Please be assured that all of our volunteers have their Pa State Law Clearances and abide by our safe church policy. We at Good Shepherd UCC are honored to share in the love of Christ with our youth. We want all of our families to feel comforted in knowing that we honor the trust, the time and the memories that we build together in a safe environment.
Adult Sunday School
Did you know that we also provide an adult component to Christian Education? Each week at 9:00 am our doors open to many wonderful discussions. Our curriculum is often centered on current events and facing life through scripture. Faith, Friends and Fun. Join us the coffee smells delicious.
We are so blessed to watch our Christian Education program grow. We have a busy year planned and are so glad that many of you have joined us. What a wonderful way to start your Sunday. All are Welcome.
