Sunday School Can Be Cool

Learn and Serve

On September 10th, our 2017-2018 Sunday School program began. New Families, Faithful Friends and many new meaningful ways to share God’s Love.

In Christian Ed we already completed our Stuff the Bus Mission to benefit Bethany Children’s Home.     This project has quickly become an annual mission providing school supplies for those in need. This year Rev. Marian Shearer blessed our school supplies, while  Meggan Kerber, Director of  development for Bethany provided us with a special mission moment. Thank you to all who donated and participated in this wonderful goal to support the education and futures of our youth.

Throughout September and the fall months ahead, our youth began to focus on the many wonderful scriptures centered on the importance of prayer and Listening for God.  While committed to Learning, our Christian Education Committee has united to Serve this fall through the many missions concerning Hunger.

At Good Shepherd UCC we actively participate in Heifer International. This is an ongoing mission that provides both the need and education to transform lives.  I invite you to utilize this link and visit the many opportunities offered through this mission.  Heifer International

Continuing on our focus of Hunger, On September 24th , our congregation and youth families will actively participate in Harvest Home.  Harvest Home is a meaningful worship service to celebrate all of God’s gifts. Friends and Visitors provide many non-perishable food items. This year we are working to benefit our local Opportunity House.  Opportunity House Webpage

October 8th Team Good Shepherd will actively participate in this years Berks Crop Walk. We are still seeking walkers and of course donations for those in need.

Our Teachers

Our Teachers … I am so grateful to all of you! From those who have taught for many years, to those who just began…you ARE the foundation of our Christian Ed program. Thank you for all of your love, your talents and dedication. I look forward to working with you and am happy to announce the 9 new volunteers of our committee.  Mark and Courtney Shober, Tim and Dawn Antosy, Shannon Gilbert, Alex and Andy Greb and Ron and Judy Volanski. How Exciting!  Please be assured that all of our volunteers have their Pa State Law Clearances and abide by our safe church policy. We at Good Shepherd UCC are honored to share in the love of Christ with our youth. We want all of our families to feel comforted in knowing that we honor the trust, the time and the memories that we build together in a safe environment.

Our Nursery … We are pleased to announce that we are able to once again provide a staffed nursery during our worship hours. Our Nursery will open following the Children’s Sermon during worship at approximately 10:45. Our Nursery is available for those children from ages 6 and under.

Adult Sunday School

Did you know that we also provide an adult component to Christian Education?  Each week at 9:00 am our doors open to many wonderful discussions. Our curriculum is often centered on current events and facing life through scripture.  Faith, Friends and Fun. Join us the coffee smells delicious.

We are so blessed to watch our Christian Education program grow. We have a busy year planned and are so glad that many of you have joined us.  What a wonderful way to start your Sunday.  All are Welcome
